Odliatok ležoviska diviaka lesného / sadra, Cast of wild boar lying area/ gypsum,  2011

Bahniská so svojím vizuálnym charakterom, farebnosťou a štruktúrou ma velmi zaujali.

The stream banks are commonly crossed by a network of paths, created by the wild animals. In the spring or summer vegetation are these paths rarely visible. Wild animals, even though migrating to water sources in large numbers, are very gentle to the surrounding vegetation hence their paths are traceable only with difficulties.Their movement can be more revealed in the winter scenery. Leafless vegetation and ground covered with snow is an ideal base for the tracing of the forrest movement.

In this work I’ve focused on above mentioned places. Mud wallows with their visual character, colourfulness and structure truly caught my attention. While wallowing, the wieght of the wild boars is creating hollows, which they can fit their enourmous bodies into. After longer search and observation I discovered a location, approx. 15 km Noth of Kosice, where I’ve found a partly dried-out wild pig hollow. This inspired me to the idea to capture this place and the entire process of it’s creation done by the wild animals in the forest terrain.

In the first phaze I’ve installed a couple of sheets which I’ve stretched exactly in the location of their movement. I was observing and monitoring this spot but no changes had happened. Finally after next few days there has been a movement. The sounder spent some time in my targeted location, leaving foot-prints on 2 of the sheets and wallowing marks on another.

In the second phaze I’ve chosen plaster, for plastering of one of the wild pigs nests. Amorphous shape of the created object, which I haven’t been intervening into, is an authentic activity of the wild boar in the same way as the series of the prints on the sheets.
